What's the difference between a Pug and a Chinese Pug?

Absolutely nothing. Pugs are known as Pug Dogs, Pugs, and Chinese Pugs interchangeably. The American and English Kennel Clubs register the breed as the Pug, as does the International registry, the FCI.

Do Pugs snore?

Yes. Almost all Pug snores. Pugs snort, snuffle and snore. Expect them to be noisy dogs, and occasionally barkers.

Do Pugs Shed?

Yes. Pugs come with two types of coats, a single coat that doesn't shed much and the more common Double Coat that has a undercoat and and course outer coat. Pugs usually shed twice a year and can loose lots of hair.

Can Pugs stay outside?

ANSWER: In winter it is fine (expect if you live in an area with snow but in Summer they must have a cool spot to stay. I recommend a crate inside that you can leave your dog in when you are not at home.

Why do Pugs have flat faces and lots of wrinkles?

ANSWER: Because a long time ago someone decided that Pug faces should be as flat as possible. The wrinkles are there because the Chinese emperors wanted lucky symbols on the dogs foreheads, and wrinkles were the best way to get them.

How much care do they actually require then?

ANSWER: A bath once a month and a toenail trim and a brush once a week, check their wrinkles and a Pug is happy.

How long do Pugs normally live?

ANSWER: Pugs normally live from 10 to 14 years, but can live for many more. My oldest boy was 16 when he passed away. Be prepared for a LONG commitment.

Will everyone tell me my Pug is "so ugly it's cute?"

ANSWER: Yes, probably many times. Some people just don't appreciate the good looks of a nice pug.
